ELDER NOMINATIONS
Your Elders are pleased to nominate Nick Anderson, Ben Pinnick and Dan Reed to serve as Lay Elders for Cedar Creek Baptist Church. We believe these men to be well-qualified and gifted for this role. The vote on these nominations will take place at our Family Meeting on 9/24, so please plan to attend. We encourage you to take the next few weeks to talk to these men and ask any questions you may have. You are also welcome to reach out to your Elders (Brad, Jeremy, Mike) with any questions or concerns by talking to them directly or emailing: elders@cedarcreekbaptist.com. These candidates will also be taking turns teaching one of the adult Sunday School classes over the next three weeks which everyone is invited to attend. Please be in prayer for these men, their families, and our church as we complete our leadership transition. Thank you.
Nick Anderson
My walk with the Lord began in 2000 when a beautiful young lady invited me to church. I was saved by God’s grace a year later and the Lord has been growing me in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ ever since. I married Danielle (the beautiful young lady who invited me to church) in 2005 and God has blessed us with seven boys (Luke 15, Caleb 13, Noah 11, Eli 9, Titus 7, Jacob 6, and Matthew 3). I have a bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Louisville and have worked in both public and private industry. In 2019, the Lord called the Anderson family to Cedar Creek Baptist Church and what a blessing it has been for us! I have served in several ministries and currently am the Deacon of Finance and Deacon Chair. God has given me a love for the people of CCBC and a love for studying His Word. I find joy in teaching and sharing the love of Christ. I would be honored to serve as an elder for CCBC.
Ben Pinnick
I started attending Cedar Creek in January, 2015. Prior to that, I was raised, baptized, married, and ordained as a deacon at Kosmosdale Baptist Church, and attended until 2011. Living in Shepherdsville took us to Bullitt Lick Baptist from 2011-2015. Relocating back to Louisville left us searching for a new church home, which we found at Cedar Creek. Within each of the churches I have attended, I have served as a trustee or deacon, and have taught in the children's, youth, young adult, and adult ministries. The Lord has been gracious to me, saving me through His work on the cross and the convicting power of the Holy Spirit through the preaching of His word. The gift of the body of Christ has been a source of encouragement and sanctification in my life. My aspiration to the office of Elder is in direct response to obeying the call of stewarding the firm faith held of that which has the only power to save. I have been blessed with the gift of a believing wife (Lacey, 20 years), a kind and gracious son that has professed faith in Christ (Ethan, 17), and a wise daughter who possesses tenderness to the truths of God's word (Sadie, 14).
Dan Reed
I first came to Cedar Creek as a college student in 2010. It was here at Cedar Creek that I met my wife, Alyssa, and where we were also married. After graduating from Boyce College with my Bachelor’s Degree in Biblical Studies, I had the privilege of being ordained for gospel ministry by our church and serving on our church staff as the Associate Pastor of Youth & Family Ministry. After a few years, the Lord called Alyssa and I overseas and Cedar Creek sent us out to South Asia to serve a two-year missionary term in partnership with the Jackson family. Since then, the Lord has provided several opportunities for me to serve in lay leadership roles here at Cedar Creek, as well as two years serving as an Associate Pastor in South Carolina, and He has also blessed us with two beautiful girls (Amelia - 4, Eliza - 1). Cedar Creek has meant so much to me and my family over the past several years and it would be a joy for me to serve as an elder for CCBC.
FAMILY MEETING & MEAL
Our next family meeting and meal will be Sunday, September 24th. The meal will begin at 5:30 in the fellowship hall with the meeting at 6:15 in the Sanctuary. The menu will be breakfast for dinner, so bring your breakfast/brunch side dishes and the church will provide the meat in the form of breakfast casseroles. Kids - you can even wear your pajamas!
CHURCH WORK DAY
Our next church work day is scheduled for Saturday, September 30th from 8:00-Noon. Whether you can stay the entire time, or for just an hour, any and all help would be appreciated! The focus will be on indoor projects throughout the facility so there is no need to bring any tools, but please dress in clothes that can get dirty. If you have children, they are welcome to come and help or run around in the gym (no formal supervision will be provided). We will provide donuts and coffee. Thank you!
MIDWEEK ADULT PRAYER & BIBLE STUDY
"Probing the Heart of Christ." Our Wednesday night prayer meetings have restarted for the Fall! We are giving more purposeful focus to praying for the needs of our church, so we hope you'll prioritize this time. After spending time together each night praying, we open God's Word and probe some of the sayings of Christ--both while on and enduring the cross and in the aftermath of His resurrection. The hope is to see these words as expressions of the Heart of Christ. We hope you will join us each Wednesday night at 6:30!
WOMEN’S BIBLE STUDY
Ladies, join us for a weekly Bible study on the Attributes of God on Wednesday nights at 6:30! The cost for books is $10. For questions or to reserve a book, contact Kristen Borland at kristenborland@gmail.com or (805) 748-3728. For more information about the study, visit this link.

ENTRANCE SIGN UPDATE
Since it has been a while, we wanted to share the latest on our project to install new signs at our entrances on Bardstown Road and Brentlinger Lane. We shared completed designs earlier this year and have accepted a bid from a contractor to install them. The short story is that since April we have been waiting on the city for permits. There was a personnel change in the office that does the review so that certainly slowed things down. Then we received conflicting reports about whether our sign was too tall for the location and requires a Variance. About five weeks ago we were given a definitive answer that any sign we wanted to build over 6' tall on the Bardstown entrance would require a Variance (our current sign is 9' tall and our proposed sign is 12' tall). So about 3 weeks ago we submitted a Variance application which is a minimum of a 6-week process and involves going to a Board of Zoning Adjustments meeting to plead our case. If the Variance is granted, we expect the permit to be granted and will commence with building. If the Variance is denied, we will need to redesign the sign and reconsider our options. So, we will share another update once we learn the results of our Variance application in the next month or so. Please pray for this process and for favor with the city. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to Mike Borland (mborland@cedarcreekbaptist.com).
CURRENT SERMON SERIES
The gospel of John stands unique amongst the four gospels of the New Testament. John had one clear motive for writing his account of Jesus--to convince the reader to believe in Jesus. His plain writing and human stories are meant to draw us close to the Son of God in a way that we can’t help but believe in Him. And, yet, just because John has a prominently evangelistic goal in writing this book doesn’t mean it’s devoid of the deep truths of God. John looks closely into the most profound truths of Scripture. Join us on Sunday mornings at 10:30 as we journey through the fourth gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
